Kochi, October 2026. Duplicem, the first short film from H2N Pictures, is on the international festival circuit in 2026. Directed by Shijin Melvin Hutton and produced by Subin Hutton, Abhishek Nair and Hutton in association with South Side Studios, the 15-minute Malayalam-language psychological horror film follows a paranormal investigator caught in a loop he cannot explain. The film's Asian premiere takes place at Dark Scream Film Festival in Mumbai, with official selections at Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival and Short Way International Short Film Festival.
The short version.
A weary paranormal investigator retreats into an isolated forest cottage, chasing a case he no longer believes in — while silently running from a fractured past.
Long synopsis
Deep in the forest, a paranormal investigator arrives at a cottage to close a case he has stopped believing in. The house is quiet. The woods are not. As night settles, sounds arrive from the wrong direction, time begins to fold back on itself, and a second version of the investigator starts to move through the trees.
Trapped in a loop he cannot explain, he is forced to confront a presence that feels deeply personal — one that feeds on guilt, isolation and emotional decay. Duplicem is a psychological horror film that uses the supernatural as a metaphor for depression: an inescapable loop in which the mind becomes both the prison and the predator.
